WASHINGTON, DC-Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (Md.) met with leading advocacy groups of D.C. voting rights today to discuss the upcoming vote on the D.C. House Voting Rights Act. Joining him for the meeting were representatives of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, Common Cause, D.C. Vote and DC Appleseed.
“In preparation for next week’s vote on the D.C. House Voting Rights Act, I met with the supporters and advocacy groups of this important legislation to ensure the strongest coordination of efforts in building support for House passage. In the meeting, we discussed ways to increase the majority support already enjoyed by this bill, as well as working together moving forward. As we make this final push, I am confident that we are well-positioned to pass the D.C. House Voting Rights Act, and that by this time next week, the House will have delivered its vote to give the citizens of D.C. the voting representation in Congress they deserve.”
