House Republicans Support Unpaid-for Tax Credits, Demand Offsets for Emergency Funding

House Republicans are resisting bringing legislation to the Floor that would provide critical assistance to address the humanitarian crisis at the border, because of the cost – yet, those same House Republicans have passed multiple tax extender bills that add hundreds of billions to the deficit.

Supplementals are needed to address unforeseen national emergencies – something big business tax cuts are not. Here’s a look at how the supplemental stacks up against the tax extenders House Republicans refuse to pay for:

With the total cost of the supplemental amounting to less than 1/100th of the cost of House Republicans’ unpaid-for tax extender bills, the hypocrisy is astonishing. House Republicans should work with Democrats to address these critical priorities.
