GOP Do-Nothing Congress Gives Itself A Pat On the Back

Republicans just released their first quarter legislative agenda, and a particular line caught our eye: “Have we made a difference since January of 2011? Certainly.”

What difference have they made? Let’s review:

  • No comprehensive jobs plan
  • Passed a budget that would end the Medicare guarantee and raise costs for seniors
  • Took our country to the brink of a government shutdown
  • Threatened to default on our nation’s obligations
  • Voted to put insurance companies back in control of health care
  • Walked away from meaningful deficit reduction
  • Put middle class tax cuts at risk
  • Wasted time on partisan bills that won’t be signed into law
