Democratic Whip Hoyer Congratulates Representative Ben Chandler on Swearing-In

WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today congratulating Representative Ben Chandler on his swearing-in this evening:

“I would like to congratulate Ben Chandler on his swearing-in as the new representative of Kentucky’s Sixth Congressional District.

“Ben will be an outstanding representative for central Kentucky.  He is hard working, experienced and has a strong independent voice.

“Ben’s election proves that Democrats can win in the south and that the President has no coattails – even in so-called ‘red’ states.  In fact, the President appears to be a drag on congressional candidates.  This bodes well for Democrats as a competitive November election looms.”
