The Daily Quote

“Republican leaders planned to unveil on Tuesday a stopgap measure to fund the government that they hoped would clear Congress by Friday… But the 11th-hour effort to complete the bill draft Monday night means Congress will be on a strict timeline to get the measure passed by Friday's deadline… A new stopgap is needed because Congress failed to pass its annual spending bills on time for the current fiscal year, which began Oct. 1. ‘Everybody back home laughs at that stuff,’ [Rep. Dave] Brat [R-VA] said of the continuing resolution. ‘Everyone's laughing, but everybody's crying at the same time.’”
