Continue Consideration of H.R. 2219 – Department of Defense Appropriations Act (Rep. Young (FL) – Appropriations) H.R. 2219 appropriates approximately $530 billion for non-emergency military functions of the Department of Defense for fiscal year 2012, which is approximately $9 billion below the President’s request.  It also includes $119 billion in emergency spending for defense activities related to the wars.
 
The House completed general debate of H.R. 2219 on 6/23. The House finished reading through the bill last night. The House is expected to continue considering amendments at the end of the bill today. The following amendments have recorded votes pending:
 
Lee (CA) Amendment (#1). Relating to cutting funds for overseas contingency operations
Garamendi Amendment.  Relating to cutting funds for overseas contingency operations
 
Nadler Amendment.  Relating to limiting funds for the Operation and Maintenance account in Afghanistan

The GOP Leadership has announced the following schedule for Friday, July 8: The House will meet at 9:00 a.m. for legislative business. The House is expected to complete consideration of H.R. 2219 – Department of Defense Appropriations Act (Rep. Young (FL) – Appropriations). The House may also begin consideration of H.R. 2354 - Energy and Water Appropriations Act, 2012 (Rep. Frelinghuysen - Appropriations) (Subject to a Rule). The House may also begin consideration of H.R. 1309 - Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2011 (Rep. Biggert - Financial Services) (Subject to a Rule). The House is not expected to consider any amendments to either H.R. 2354 or H.R. 1309.
