House Democrats recognize the hardship facing millions of Americans during this recession, and have worked with President Obama to help create jobs and address the economic downturn. On the other side of the aisle, Republicans have offered little more than empty rhetoric, distractions, and misrepresentations – playing politics with important issues – and have overwhelmingly opposed legislation that would spur economic growth and create jobs. Today, Minority Whip Eric Cantor said that “Republicans have been working for months now trying to forge solutions as to how to get Americans back to work.” Unfortunately for America, the majority of Republicans actually opposed “solutions as to how to get Americans back to work.” Votes don’t lie: Republicans have consistently said “no” to creating jobs and helping Americans during this recession.
