Afternoon Roundup: House GOP Derails Bill Because it Protects LGBT Americans from Discrimination

Today, House Republicans failed to pass their Energy and Water appropriations bill because an amendment protecting LGBT Americans from discrimination was included in the bill. Rep. Sessions said on the Floor last Thursday that Republicans “do not discriminate.” We think it’s safe to say that’s inaccurate:

Afternoon Roundup: House Republican Leaders Strong-arm Their Members to Vote Against LGBT Equality

During today’s vote series, House Republicans held open a two minute vote open for nearly eight minutes in order to make their Members change their votes to defeat an amendment introduced by Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney that would ban discrimination against LGBT Americans. Needless to say, their antics didn’t go unnoticed:
