Morning Round Up: 'Budget Hits His Own Voters the Hardest' Edition

Another day, another #BrokenPromise from President Trump. In fact, his budget breaks a lot of promises he made to the American people – most importantly, the promise that he is fighting for them. Instead, they get a budget that harms working Americans in order to give a huge tax cut to the wealthiest. Here is a look at the coverage so far:

“The Single Most Destabilizing Factor” in the Health Insurance Market

Need further proof that Republicans’ request to delay their cost-sharing reductions lawsuit will harm consumers? CNBC reports that the uncertainty Republicans are injecting in the health insurance market with this delay could result in premiums increasing by 20% or more:

Delay, delay, delay means Obamacare customers will pay, and pay, and pay a lot more next year.”

GOP Quote of the Day: You Can't Pass These Budgets

Today’s GOP quote of the day comes from Rep. Mike Simpson (R-ID), who slammed the Trump Administration’s budget for the draconian cuts it’s expected to make. From Politico:

"This is Mulvaney's budget… Like I want to go home after having voting [sic] against Meals on Wheels and say, 'Oh it's a bad program, keeping seniors alive.' There's just some of the stuff in here that doesn't make any sense. ... Frankly, you can't pass these budgets on the floor."

This is what TrumpCare looks like: Episode 2

Either Trump is oblivious to reports that White House chaos and incompetence are causing insurers to pull out of health care markets, or he just doesn’t care. Reports indicate that he is now saying he wants to stop cost sharing reduction payments, which would sow further chaos in the markets. From Politico:

This is what TrumpCare looks like.

Remember when we said that the uncertainty caused by the Trump Administration would undermine insurance markets? Well, it’s happening. According to the LA Times, health insurers are making plans to dramatically raise premiums or exit marketplaces. And who do they blame? Trump.

LOL

Wanted to be sure you saw this Bloomberg story about how Republicans might have to vote on TrumpCare again because they passed it without actually knowing what was in it. After the fierce backlash that Republicans faced back home, do GOP leaders really think their Members will vote for the bill again? Best of luck to the GOP Whip team.
