Hoyer Floor Remarks on the One-Week CR

I am so pleased to be here, in the House. I am not pleased that we are considering a Continuing Resolution.

TrumpCare Fact Check

Since there seems to be some confusion among Republicans about what their latest TrumpCare bill does, we here in the Dem Whip Press Shop thought we’d clear things up for E&C Committee Chair Greg Walden, who told constituents:

“’We’re not going back to the days when they could underwrite you, say, ‘Oh yeah, we’ll cover you, it’ll just be so expensive you can’t afford it’ …That is not a plan I can support.”

TrumpCare Whip Count

The latest version of #TrumpCare would have the same harmful consequences as the bill Republicans were forced to pull from the Floor last month. So it should come as no surprise that the latest Whip count doesn’t seem to be going well for GOP leaders. Hoyer Discusses the GOP Shutdown and President Trump's Tax Proposal with CNBC's "Squawk Box"

We’re not going to shut down. Nobody believes that the Democrats want to shut down the government, period.

Republicans Are Trying Again to Jam TrumpCare Through the House

ICYMI, the Rules Committee reported out a rule today that provides for same day rule and suspension authority through this Saturday, the 29th. This will be included in the FOIA rule that the House will vote on tomorrow. Democrats offered an amendment to have this rule apply only to appropriations measures, which Republicans rejected.

So what does that mean? It means that, once again, Republicans are trying to jam their TrumpCare bill through the House. No hearings, no witnesses, no substantive debate, and extremely little time to review the bill.
